Simple ways to help toads and feel good
-
Take particular care when driving after dusk between mid-March and mid-April. On a peak night, a single car can cause great destruction to a population of amphibians.
-
If you know of a site where toads are vulnerable, put up a sign during the migration period (mid-March to mid-April).
-
Affix wire mesh (temporarily or permanently) over grids and overflows which lie in the path of migrating amphibians.
-
Join a local toad patrol - as frequently as you are able; all help is appreciated.
-
Share information about the toad migration with people you know, both in person and through social media.
-
If you don’t already know, learn how to tell toads and frogs apart, so accurate information can be given.
